The Boxcar Children is a story of four children who have become orphans after their parent’s death. They ask a baker if they can stay the night and have loaves of bread if they wash the dishes the next day. The children overhear the baker and her husband talking, and they decide they will keep the three older children and send the youngest to a shelter. However, they want to stick together as a family so they sneak away. After wandering far and wide, they find an old boxcar and decide to make it their new home.
